The first page of a newspaper is “prime” real estate. It’s where the most important stories are often found. That’s why it’s helpful to understand what’s behind those stories – because they matter. In some cases, a news story may not receive much attention but it matters because it's interesting. Those, too, are prime stories.

Here’s some background on a “prime” story this week.

March for Our Lives

After a school shooting in Florida, students across the country have called out for changes in our laws designed to keep them safe at school. Some want stricter gun control laws, others want more laws passed to take care of those who are mentally ill. Others have additional ideas of what adults can do to improve school safety.

One way in which they are making their voices heard is the nationwide protest march they have organized for Saturday, March 24. It's titled, "The March for Our Lives." People in Washington D.C. and in cities and towns across the U.S. will gather and demand something be done.

What do you think about this peaceful form of protest? Will you participate? Why?
