Comparing News Stories

Here is a story making news today. Find one like it in your newspaper or news website and write a

comparison of the two.

Begin by deciding what type of story it is. Is it local, national or international? How would you describe it? Is

it politics, science, health, sports, entertainment, economic, business, human interest or another type?

Finally, see if you can find the five W's in each story. Who is the story about? What happened? When did it

happen? Why did it occur? Where did it happen? Once you answer as many of these questions as

possible (not every fact will be found in every story), you can compare the two stories using your answers.
